What Is ThuLEP Prostate Treatment?
ThuLEP (Thulium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) is a laser-assisted, endoscopic surgical method used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Using thulium laser technology, the overgrown prostate tissue is carefully enucleated and removed, allowing the patient’s urinary flow to return to normal.
This technique offers a safe and effective solution even for large prostates, without the need for open surgery.
Advantages of ThuLEP Treatment
- Much less bleeding compared to open surgery
- Short hospital stay (usually 1 day)
- Shorter catheter (Foley) duration
- Minimally invasive and endoscopic – no incisions
- Faster recovery and return to daily life
- Permanent and effective results with low recurrence risk
Post-Treatment Process
After ThuLEP, patients are usually discharged the same day or the following day.
The urinary catheter is typically removed within 24–48 hours.
Mild burning or frequent urination may occur in the first days, but this resolves quickly.
Most patients return to normal life within one week.
Recovery is monitored through follow-up visits and urine tests.
